
Cordell Schachter is the Chief Technology Officer for the New York City Department of Transportation. He leads its IT & Telecom organization and department-wide initiatives to innovate safety, mobility, smart and accessible infrastructure, software development, mapping, communications, public data, and customer support. IT & Telecom has earned local, state, and national recognition for its work making New York City Safer, Faster, and Smarter. Cordell has over 30 years of experience in New York City government and private sector technology management. He is a certified project manager by the Project Management Institute and IBM. He holds an MS in Management from NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service and a BA in Economics from SUNY Buffalo. He serves on the board of directors of ITS America, and is an adjunct Associate Professor at NYU’s Center for Urban Science + Progress.
